Forbes Receives Award for Commitment to Small Business

Washington, D.C., Oct 30 - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) was recently presented the “Guardian of Small Business” award by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading small business association. Congressman Forbes received this distinction for his outstanding voting record on behalf of America’s small business owners in the 110th Congress.

The NFIB tallied 10 key small business votes in the U.S. House of Representatives during 2007 and 2008, including issues such as tax relief and lawsuit and regulatory reform. NFIB President and CEO Todd Stottlemyer praised Rep. Forbes for “standing for small business” through his votes.

“The record shows that Rep. Forbes is a true champion of small business, having stood strong on the key small-business votes in the 110th Congress,” said Stottlemyer. “This award reflects our members’ appreciation for supporting the NFIB pro-growth agenda for small business.”

“Small business and entrepreneurs are the cornerstone of our nation's economy. In our current economic situation, it is ever more critical that we support our small businesses by continuing pro-growth policies like lowering taxes, simplifying the tax code, and reducing burdensome regulations," said Forbes. “By putting money back in the hands of small business, we are building the foundation of a strong economic future. It is an honor to be presented with this award.”

The NFIB, founded in 1943, is the nation’s largest small-business advocacy group. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the NFIB represents the consensus views of its 600,000 members in Washington and all 50 state capitals. More information is available online at www.NFIB.com.
