Bridgewater


  • Congressman Ferguson secured more than $10 million to make improvements along an eight-mile section of Route 22 in Bridgewater – one of the most dangerous roads in New Jersey. The Route 22 Sustainable Corridor Project is expected to break ground in 2007 between Routes 202-206 and Chimney Rock Road in Bridgewater. The project includes building a new interchange and overpass at Route 22 and Chimney Rock Road. Dangerous U-turns in the medians will be eliminated, creating local and express lanes between Interstate 287 and Routes 202-206, and expanding mass transit use on New Jersey Transit’s Raritan Valley Line.

  • Congressman Ferguson secured $30,000 to upgrade the Bridgewater Police Department’s emergency communications capabilities. The funding will integrate local police, fire and rescue operations and allow officials to communicate with different agencies during emergency responses.

  •  The Martinsville Fire Department received a $94,185 first-responder grant from the Homeland Security Department to purchase new safety equipment.

  • Congressman Ferguson nominated Matthew McCarthy of Martinsville to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

  • Congressman Ferguson voted to provide Bridgewater public schools with more than $727,884 in federal elementary and secondary education aid in fiscal year 2007. Congressman Ferguson has voted to increase federal education funding for New Jersey schools by more than 33 percent since 2001.

  • The Finderne Engine Company in Bridgewater received $46,170 first-responder grant from the Homeland Security Department to purchase new safety and communications equipment. The 20 member all-volunteer department responds to 350 calls per year.
