Roselle Park

  • Congressman Ferguson successfully persuaded the Federal Emergency Management Agency to update its flood plain map in Roselle Park. FEMA had included several neighborhoods in a flood plain, even though there hadn’t been flooding there for more than 50 years. But the FEMA designation forced homeowners to purchase special flood insurance, costing some thousands of dollars a year for insurance they didn’t need. At Congressman Ferguson’s urging, FEMA updated its map and removed 194 Roselle Park property owners from the flood plain – and the burden of higher insurance costs.
