Berkeley Heights

  • Congressman Ferguson selected two Berkeley Heights students for the Congressional Award Service Medal, which recognizes young people who seek to improve themselves and their community. Manuela DeOliveira, 16, received the Silver Medal for her volunteer work in the community, and Margaret Antonia DeOliveira, 14, received the Bronze Medal for volunteering at a local senior center.

  • Congressman Ferguson voted to reduce taxes for Berkeley Heights residents, including doubling the child tax credit to $1,000, reducing the marriage penalty faced by two-income families, making college expenses tax deductible, reducing taxes on capital gains and dividends, and reducing all tax brackets to benefit every worker in Berkeley Heights.

  • Congressman Ferguson voted to provide Berkeley Heights public schools with more than $58,000 in federal elementary and secondary education aid in fiscal year 2007. Congressman Ferguson has voted to increase federal education funding for New Jersey schools by more than 33 percent since 2001.
