Grant and Adams Counties
Hastings’ Work for Grant and Adams Counties
- Working to protect the Moses Lake Clinic and Royal City Clinic from attempts by some in Congress to shut down doctor-owned health care facilities.
- Persuaded the Bureau of Reclamation not to draw down Banks Lake – a drawdown would have devastated local economies without any proven benefit to fish.
- Secured funds to help Quincy Valley Medical Center make needed improvements.
- Got the federal government engaged in exploring solutions to Odessa Subaquifer depletion so that Columbia Basin farmers and communities have access to water.
- Working to secure funds for a supplemental feed route for Potholes Reservoir.
- Working with the community of Wilson Creek to resolve a FEMA flood study that increases the non-build zone to cover much of the town.
- Secured federal funds for Grant County Transit, potato research important to local farmers, Cemetery Road Bridge in Othello, and jobs at General Dynamics in Moses Lake for work with the Army.
- Authored a bill to create an Ice Age Flood Trail which will provide new tourism opportunities for communities across Grant County.
- Worked with Grant County PUD to help secure the fish agreements necessary to complete relicensing and allow the PUD to continue generating clean, renewable energy.
