March 8th - International Women's Day
International Women's Day has been recognized around the world since the early 1900's, a time when oppression and inequality was spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. While women have made great strides in the United States and around the world, there are still issues to address. To learn more, see www.internationalwomensday.com

March 18th - National Biodiesel Day
Biodiesel, which is made from soybeans, canola, or other oilseeds, is an alternative to oil that can be used in diesel engines and as home heating oil. The 17th congressional district is a proud leader in the development of biofuels with Independence Biofuels, which opened a biodiesel injection facility in 2005, in Highspire (Dauphin County).  This fuel-blending facility is the first in the East that can combine biodiesel with petroleum-diesel or other fuels before they are put into tanker trucks.  Also, Agra Biofuels, a biodiesel plant in Middletown (Dauphin County), has the ability to process and produce 3 million gallons of biodiesel a year. For more information regarding biodiesel, see www.biodiesel.org
