Education

Congressman Geoff Davis believes in the strength of our education system and is confident that future generations will continue to receive a world-class education.

Congressman Davis also believes that local school district officials are best capable to make decisions regarding funding and academic programs. However, there must also be national standards so that a high-school diploma carries the same measure of academic excellence in every state. Education spending has increased an average of almost 12 percent per year over the last five years, and Congressman Davis believes there must be accountability for federal tax dollars.

Congressman Davis also believes that we must take steps to deal with the impending crisis of not having enough good teachers to fill our classrooms. Over the next 10 years, our schools throughout the nation will need to hire two million teachers to replace members of a retiring generation to meet the demand of increases in enrollment. It is imperative that we provide teachers with the resources necessary to educate our students and that our students have all the necessary tools to help them achieve future success.
