Crowley Announces $10,000 for Youth Safety Initiative at Balcom Avenue Skate Park

Congressman Crowley and local community and business leaders celebrate Federal support for the Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership

(Throggs Neck, N.Y.) – Today, Congressman Joseph Crowley (D-Queens, Bronx) and Assemblyman Mike Benedetto joined with Fran Maturo and other members of the Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership to celebrate the allocation of $10,000 in Federal anti-crime funds to implement safety initiatives at the Balcom Avenue skate park.

“The best way to keep our community a safe and enjoyable place to learn and grow is to engage all area residents,” said Congressman Joseph Crowley. “The funds I secured for the Throggs Neck Commuity Action Partnership will enlist our young people in the effort by sponsoring youth clean-up days at Balcom Avenue Skate Park. I want our children to be proud of their local hangout, and these funds will allow them to keep the park free from graffiti, vandalism and crime.”

The Throggs Neck Community Action Partnership (TNCAP) is an initiative of the Catholic Archdiocese of New York and is dedicated to ensuring children grow up in a safe and healthy environment without drug or alcohol addiction. The federal funds secured by Congressman Crowley will be used to further engage area youth who use Balcom Skate Park by having them help oversee anti-crime, drug, and graffiti efforts in the park.
