Crowley Announces $15,000 for Sunnyside Anti-Crime Program

(Sunnyside, N.Y.) – Today, Congressman Joseph Crowley (D-Queens,Bronx) and Councilman Eric Gioia joined with local business and community leaders to celebrate the allocation of an additional $15,000 in Federal anti-crime funds for the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce.

“Keeping our community safe and secure is my top priority. That is why I have secured more than $89,000 since 2003 to support the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce’s community safety initiatives,” said Congressman Joseph Crowley. “By working together, we have helped to reduce crime and ensure that Sunnyside remains a family-friendly neighborhood. There is no doubt we will continue our joint effort to ensure the safety of our community.”

The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce works with local businesses to prevent crime in Sunnyside. Congressman Crowley has secured a total of $89,513 to support the Chamber’s community safety efforts, including $74,513 in Fiscal Year 2003 and $15,000 in Fiscal Year 2008. The funds secured by Congressman Crowley in FY03 were used to install 12 un-manned cameras along Queens Boulevard. The $15,000 in FY08 funds will be used to expand the Chamber’s camera surveillance and anti-crime initiatives.
