Information on Tickets to 2009 Inauguration

Dear Friends,

Many of my constituents have expressed interest in attending the 2009 Inaugural Events on and around January 20, 2009. My office will do our best to assist you in obtaining tickets for this exciting, historic event. At this time, congressional offices do not know the exact quantity of tickets we will receive or the exact date we will receive them.

Please note that no website or other ticket outlet actually has inaugural swearing-in tickets to sell, regardless of what they may claim, and that tickets, when they are available, will be free of charge. I urge you to be wary of any offers of tickets for sale or being offered through outlets other than Members of Congress.

Below is some additional information that you might find helpful.

Tickets to Swearing-in Ceremony:

Each Member of Congress is given a specific number of tickets to the Swearing-in Ceremony to distribute to constituents. If you are a constituent of the 7th District, and are interested in being placed on our waiting list for inaugural tickets, please send an email to NY07Tickets@mail.house.gov, and include:

Your name
Your address
Your email address
Your phone number
Number of tickets requested
Any special needs requests

At the present time, please keep a few things to keep in mind: Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (determined by the date of your request). Also, the number of tickets that congressional offices have received in the past has varied greatly so, depending on the quantity, the number of tickets per group may be limited.

We will keep your information on file and contact you when we have more information, which may not be until January.

If you are not a resident of the 7th District, please visit http://www.house.gov to locate and contact your Representative.

Additionally, tickets can not be mailed, and must be picked up in person in Washington, DC. Children will need tickets (defined as anyone who can walk), although infants will not. Please note, however, when considering bringing children, that you will not be able to bring strollers or any food or water into the ticketed areas and weather conditions will most likely be cold and/or wet.

Tickets to other Inaugural Events (including the Inaugural Parade and Inaugural Balls):

Congressional offices do not have access to tickets for the Morning Worship Service, Procession to the Capitol, Inaugural Luncheon, Inaugural Parade or Inaugural Balls. For more information about these and other Inaugural events in our Nation's Capital, please visit the 56th Inaugural website at http://inaugural.senate.gov

I hope that this information is useful. Please do not hesitate to contact my offices in Queens (718-779-1400), the Bronx (718-931-1400), Co-op City (718-320-2314), or Washington, DC (202-225-3965) if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Joseph Crowley
Member of Congress
