Congressman Costa's Committees and Caucuses
Congressman Jim Costa serves on three powerful House Committees: the Committee on Agriculture, the Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Foreign Affairs .
On the Committee on Agriculture he serves on the Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Subcommittee and the Conservation, Credit, Energy, and Research Subcommittee. The subcommittees review issues regarding fruits and vegetables, food stamps, nutrition programs and dairy. As a member of the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee, Costa reviews programs and markets related to cotton and wheat, as well as other commodities.
For the Committee on Resources the Congressman serves on the Water and Power Subcommittee and is the Chairman of the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee. Congressman Costa's appointment gives his constituents a voice over water issues, such as water resources planning, research and development and irrigation programs, as well as mining, oil, and gas.
As a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Congressman Costa also sits on the Europe Subcommittee and the Middle East and South Asia Subcommittee. These important subcommittees allow Congressman Costa to have a voice in issues such as human rights, diplomacy, and fostering business between the US and the world.
