White House Tour Information

Thank you for inquiring about touring the White House in Washington, D.C.

As you know, the White House has begun giving tours in a limited capacity.  Under the new policy, the White House will only consider tour groups of a minimum of ten people.  In order to better serve groups with less than ten people, our office will be pairing your White House tour requests with other Members of the California Delegation to ensure that there are at least ten people in each tour group.

Due to the volume of requests we receive, and in conjunction with White House tour policy, we must receive your tour request at least six to eight weeks prior to your forthcoming trip to Washington, D.C.—no exceptions.  Our office recommends more advance notice if possible, as tours have been difficult to secure this season.  Once a tour request is submitted, the White House Visitor’s Center will send our office either a tour confirmation number or a tour denial letter approximately three weeks prior to the requested date.  The White House grants tours on a first come, first served basis and each office is only allowed to submit a certain number of requests.  Should your request be granted, our office will be contacting you for additional security information such as each person’s Social Security number.  This information is necessary so that the Secret Service can complete a background check on all visitors.  Once all information is collected, we will inform you of the day and time of your tour, and the designated area where you will be required to meet prior to entering the White House.  We will also contact any parties whose tour requests are denied.

Our office understands your frustration with the new protocols for touring the White House.  Please know that we will do all that we can to help you, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
