Congressman Campbell's Energy Agenda

People across the United States are getting pummeled at the gas pump, and they’re looking to Washington for solutions.  Unfortunately, this do less than nothing Congress and its Democratic leadership has failed to provide solutions and continue to allow Americans to foot the bill.

                                                                                            --Congressman John Campbell

On April 24, 2006, while campaigning, Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated that "Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices….” Press Release (4/24/06).

We have yet to see a commonsense plan to bringing down gas prices, and since the Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007, the cost of gas has risen by almost two dollars, and there is no relief in sight.

Not only is the price of gas unlikely to stop there, but other energy prices are increasing as well. The price of natural gas has risen dramatically.  Natural gas accounts for nearly all home heating in California as well as about 50% of the state's electricity generation, meaning noticeable increases in electric and heating costs.  So it's not just the price of gasoline that will be impacting your wallet.

Here is an outline of my plan to reduce America's dependence on foreign energy, lower the cost of energy, and decrease skyrocketing gas prices.  Click on the links for more information.

I.     Increase Domestic Production of Oil/Gas
II.   Encourage the Development of Alternative Energy Sources

III.  Encourage Efficiency
