Allison Rogers Meets with City of Los Angeles

Wednesday, May 21 | Green the Capitol's Allison Rogers meets with Krista Kline and Jim Clark, of the City of Los Angeles, to discuss strategies on how large organizations can successfully "go green." Kline and Clark work on Mayor Villaraigosa's staff. Kline has worked to require all new building projects in the city to incorporate mandatory green designs, and Clark is the city's liaison to the federal government. In May, 2007 the Mayor issued a Climate Action Plan, the goal of which is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the municipality by 35 percent below 1990 levels by 2030.

Thursday, May 22 | Allison Rogers, of the House's Green the Capitol Initiative, is briefed by the University of Southern California's Jennifer Wolch and Travis Longcore. Wolch is the university's Director for Sustainable Cities. In that role she is leading the Green Vision for the 21st Century Southern California project, a "planning guide for "habitat conservation, watershed health and recreational open spaces in the region." Along with Longcore, she has been a key advisor in the university's attempt to reduce its carbon footprint.

Recognized Environmentalist David Freeman Offers GTC Insights

Thursday, May 22 | Allison Rogers poses with David Freeman in Santa Monica, CA. Freeman is the President of the Los Angeles Harbor Commission. He is responsible for helping pass the city's Clean Air Action Plan, which provides a comprehensive strategy for reducing air emissions from port operations by nearly 50 percent over a period of five years.
