ABC Child Care Center- Savannah
November 13, 2007
On Tuesday, November 13th, Congressman John Barrow held a press conference at the ABC Childcare Center in Savannah to discuss H.R. 4039,the “Child Care Family Tax Relief Act of 2007,” legislation that will bring needed tax relief to Georgia families.

Barrow’s bill makes the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (DCTC) permanent and doubles the maximum credit. Right now, a family making over $43,000 can only get a tax credit of $600 for one child in day care and $1,200 for two or more children in day care.

H.R. 4039 would increase the maximum credit to $1,200 for one child or $2,400 for two or more children. Approximately two thirds of households have two working parents.
