Internship Opportunites

The office of Congressman J. Gresham Barrett accepts applications for internships of college students who are interested in learning about the operations of a congressional office. Internships are available in the Washington, D.C. office and all of the district offices.

In Washington, interns provide general office support as well as assist the Congressman's staff with constituent services, Capitol tours, and light research. Interns are also encouraged to attend hearings, lectures, and seminars available in Congress and around the Hill.

Internships are available year round and on a full time or part time basis. The program does not provide a wage or stipend. Housing and transportation are the responsibility of interns.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume. The prospective interns should indicate what dates they would be available and why they wish to intern in a congressional office. Depending on availability, a brief phone interview may be necessary. Summer months fill particularly quickly and applicants should apply at their earliest convenience.
