SOUTHWEST MISSOURI PRIORITIES

Drawing on the advice and wisdom of everyday Missourians, as well as the counsel of state and local officials, Congressman Blunt each year submits a list of Southwest Missouri priorities to Congress for consideration during its annual appropriations process.

This year, after a thorough investigation and hours of debate, several of the priorities identified by Southwest Missourians and requested by Blunt were chosen for investment by the federal government. Among the projects selected, the money granted will be used to improve our region's infrastructure, expand its access to quality education and health care, and promote the advancement of new, cutting-edge technologies.

The list that follows identifies the Southwest Missouri priorities in which the federal government is making an investment this year:

Short Range Ballistic Missile Defense - David's Sling FY09 National Defense Authorization Act  $28 million
     
Controlled Release of Anti-Inflammatory and Tissue Repair  FY09 National Defense Authorization Act $6 million
     
Corneal Wound Repair FY09 National Defense Authorization Act $5.5 million
     
Greene County Emergency Operations Center FY09 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies $800,000
     
Springfield Police Deparment - Records System FY09 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies $700,000
     
White River Area Emergency Project in Taney County FY09 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies $400,000
     
Missouri Alternative and Renewable Energy Technology (MARET) at Crowder College FY09 Energy and Water $1 million
     
Corp of Engineers to complete pre-construction engineering to mitigate flooding along the Jordan Creek FY09 Energy and Water $500,000
     
Build and environmentally friendly and energy efficient roof on the Greene County Courthouse FY09 Energy and Water $500,000
