Executive Director, Green the Capitol Office

Green the Capitol Executive Director Grant ScherlingGrant Scherling serves as Executive Director for the Green the Capitol Office. He is responsible for leading the House of Representatives forward in the arena of sustainability. Coming into his seventh year at the House, Scherling brings extensive Hill knowledge to the Speaker's new initiative. As Executive Director, his mission is to achieve organizational change in the pursuit of environmental sustainability at the House.

Scherling has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Business from Simon Fraser University and a Masters of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. With his strong engineering and building science background, Scherling brings innovative technology and business practices to improve House operations. He also brings diverse environmental knowledge from previous experience in commercializing new carbon dioxide sensor technologies through metallurgical developments of squeeze cast aluminum, which improved vehicle fuel economy. Grant also has a deep awareness of environmental issues having grown up in British Columbia.
