Fun Facts!

1. The Village of Winchester first declared it’s independence from Woburn in 1850.

2. Winchester was very nearly named "Columbus" but instead the town fathers honored a wealthy businessman, Colonel William P. Winchester, whose premature death prevented him from ever setting foot in the town bearing his name.

3. In 1979 Winchester native Allan Cormack won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his part in developing CAT scan technology.
