Levin and Herger Announce Additional Bills on Technical Corrections to U.S. Trade Laws and Miscellaneous Duty Suspensions for Written Comments

Chairman Sander M. Levin (D-MI) and Ranking Member Wally Herger (R-CA) of the Subcommittee on Trade today jointly announced the addition of the following bills to the February 25, 2008 request for written comments on miscellaneous tariff and duty suspensions.  These bills were inadvertently omitted from the initial advisory and otherwise meet the criteria for inclusion in the miscellaneous tariff bill process.  

All other details for the request for written comments remain the same (see Trade Advisory No. TR-7 dated February 25, 2008).  The deadline for the submission of comments on these bills is June 2, 2008.                        

Additional information on these bills, including a link to the text of each, has been included in the list of bills for which the Committee is considering to be included in a miscellaneous tariff bill and can be accessed from the Committee’s homepage at http://waysandmeans.house.gov.

DETAILS FOR SUBMISSION OF WRITTEN COMMENTS:

Please Note:  Any person(s) and/or organization(s) wishing to submit written comments for the record must follow the appropriate link on the hearing page of the Committee website and complete the informational forms.  From the Committee homepage, (http://waysandmeans.house.gov), select “110^th Congress” from the menu entitled “Committee Hearings.”  Select the request for written comments for which you would like to submit, and click on the link entitled, “Click here to provide a submission for the record.”  Follow the online instructions carefully and note deadlines for submissions located in this advisory. Finally, please note that due to the change in House mail policy, the U.S. Capitol Police will refuse sealed-package deliveries to all House Office Buildings. 

The deadline for the public to submit written comments to the Committee on the bills mentioned above is June 2, 2008.

FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS:

The Committee relies on electronic submissions for printing the official hearing record.  As always, submissions will be included in the record according to the discretion of the Committee.  The Committee will not alter the content of your submission, but we reserve the right to format it according to our guidelines.  Any submission provided to the Committee by a witness, any supplementary materials submitted for the printed record, and any written comments in response to a request for written comments must conform to the guidelines listed below.  Any submission or supplementary item not in compliance with these guidelines will not be printed, but will be maintained in the Committee files for review and use by the Committee. 

1. All submissions and supplementary materials must be provided in PDF format and MUST NOT exceed a total of 10 pages, including attachments.  Witnesses and submitters are advised that the Committee relies on electronic submissions for printing the official hearing record.
