Social Security
I believe that privatization of the Social Security system would put at risk the only source of income for many seniors. For instance, investment of Social Security funds in stocks and bonds would expose the funds to market risk and provide poor protection against a downturn in the economy. Also, raising the retirement age is simply not fair to those who have worked their entire lives and have looked forward to retirement in their golden years. The problems which face the system can be resolved without altering the fundamental nature of the program.
The Social Security program was created to ensure that those who worked all their lives to make this country great would not fall into poverty late in life. As such, the program has been extremely successful. Please be assured that I will oppose any plans to privatize the Social Security system and will do all in my power to protect Social Security for you and for future generations.
