PORTER APPLAUDS LAS VEGAS CHAMBER EVENT AS A ‘HUGE SUCCESS’

Chamber members discussed key issues during the three-day visit to Washington

 

Washington, DC- Congressman Jon Porter released the following statement at the conclusion of a three-day Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce visit, organized by honorary Chairman Porter with the help of the honorary co-hosts of the Nevada delegation.  

 

“This was a unique experience for the Las Vegas business community to directly interact with the top policy makers in Washington and to discuss the issues that directly impact southern Nevada. I want to thank Kara Kelley and the members of Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce who took time out of their demanding schedules to voice their top priorities to decision makers in Congress and to learn from our many experts and legislators who spoke at the three-day event. I also want to thank Senator Reid, Senator Ensign, Congresswoman Berkley and Congressman Heller for their help in making this event as great as it was.”

 

Over the course of the three-day event, Chamber of Commerce members had the opportunity to meet with Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, Transportation Secretary Mary Peters, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, House Minority Leader John Boehner, House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel, Ways and Means Ranking Member Jim McCrery, Finance Committee Chairman Barney Frank, Congressman Thad McCotter and Congressman Sam Farr.
