WASHINGTON - Congressman Adam H. Putnam (FL-12) applauded the passage of H.R. 5005, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act, 2004. This legislation will provide $2 billion to replenish the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster relief account.
“As Hurricane Charley and Frances made their way through Florida, they intersected in my district and wrecked havoc on the heart of our great state,” said Putnam. “These funds will be used to aid the recovery efforts from both hurricanes and will go a long way toward rebuilding homes and businesses by giving victims a helping hand.”
“I am deeply grateful to Appropriations Chairman Bill Young, Governor Jeb Bush and President George Bush for their tireless efforts throughout this period of great hardship,” concluded Putnam. “These funds are a welcome announcement to those who have suffered so much in the aftermath of Hurricanes Charley and Frances.”
H.R. 5005 was passed by voice vote on Tuesday night. Congressman Putnam returned to Washington, D.C. Wednesday after spending time in the Recovery Operations Center and surveying the impacted areas in his district.
