Energy Solutions

Texans are fed up paying over $4 a gallon for gas and nearly $5 for diesel.  Americans want, need and deserve real energy solutions.  I support increasing production of American-made energy.

To bring down the price of gasoline, we must: 1) increase our energy supply, 2) boost the U.S. refinery capacity by building new refineries, 2) explore America’s own energy resources, 3) streamline the number of fuel blends, and 4) promote the use of clean, alternative energy.  I have cosponsored a number of common-sense pieces of legislation that would address these issues and put our country on a path towards energy independence.

I commend the President’s leadership on removing the presidential moratorium on off-shore exploration.  Now the only thing stopping this is the Democrats in Congress.  They need to get off the dime and do away with the final barrier standing in the way of this American resource.

With the nationwide price for gasoline now well over $4 a gallon, it’s no surprise that a recent Gallup poll showed 57 percent of Americans now favor further exploration for oil right here in America.

The price of a gallon of gas has spiked $2 since the Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007.  It’s past time for the Democrats and Republicans to work together to find common-sense solutions to the skyrocketing cost of gasoline.  The United States must become energy self-sufficient.
