| Rep. Markey has worked to end the proliferation of nuclear weapons since the beginning of his career. In 1997, Rep. Markey co-founded the Congressional Bipartisan Task Force on Nonproliferation. In addition to being wasteful and unnecessary, a United States nuclear arsenal sends the wrong message to the countries we are trying to convince not to develop nuclear arms. Recently, Rep. Markey has led the opposition to the U.S.-India nuclear deal, which drastically undermines the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
