(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) announced that she has been selected to serve as a Deputy Whip for the 110th Congress. Myrick has served as a Deputy Whip for the past 4 years.
Rep. Myrick has also received three prime subcommittee seats on the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee. She will be serving on the Health subcommittee, the Energy subcommittee, and the Commerce, Trade, and Consumer Protection subcommittee. These subcommittees address America’s health, energy, and commerce and trade policies, respectively.
The House Committee on Energy and Commerce is the oldest, and one of the top five most powerful committees in the US House of Representatives. It has wide jurisdiction over the healthcare, telecommunications, and energy industries. Its jurisdiction also extends over five Cabinet-level departments and seven independent agencies.
