As chair of the Democratic Task force on Homeland Security, I work to ensure that our nation becomes as safe and secure as possible. September 11th was a transforming event for our country that heightened our focus and strengthened our resolve in securing our homeland. As a result, our Task Force examines the challenge from the bottom up by examining how the brave men and women protect our frontiers and hometowns.
Our charge is to investigate and identify which policies have proven effective and what needs improvement. Based upon our conclusions, we submit proposals that if implemented will help to better equip America for the prevention of and protection from terrorism. I am hopeful that with the help of the Task Force and the vigilance of our law enforcement community we can boost America's safety.
