We help many constituents who have questions regarding the Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), formerly called the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). If you need assistance with any applications you have filed with the bureau, including naturalization applications, immigrant petitions for relatives and adjustment status applications, we may be able to help.

Answers to some frequently asked questions:

1.) How can I contact USCIS directly?
 
You can call the USCIS' toll-free number for general questions: 1-800-375-5283.

2.) How do I become a U.S. Citizen?

Visit the USCIS website for information about how to become a US Citizen .  Also, you can download a "Guide to Naturalization"  to help answer your questions.

You can also download software from the USCIS website to complete your naturalization form and print a special bar-coded application that improves the accuracy and speed of a response.

If you prefer, you can call 1-800-870-3676 and request form N-400, the Naturalization application, or download it from the USCIS website.

3.) I recently filed for Naturalization or a Green Card. How long will that take?

Forms are available for download from the USCIS website. You can request forms be mailed to you on the USCIS website, or by calling 1-800-870-FORM (3676).

Visit the USCIS website to find information on laws, regulations and interpretations of law controlling immigration and the work of the USCIS. You can also find a copy of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
