Immigration and Customs are components of the Department of Homeland Security. Immigration services fall under the jurisdiction of Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS). Immigration and Criminal Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) handle immigration enforcement and customs matters.

Immigration Enforcement

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is responsible for the enforcement of immigration and customs laws within the United States. If you wish to report suspected illegal immigration activity in North Carolina, you can contact the ICE Office of Investigations by telephone at 704-672-6938.

Customs

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is responsible for all border protection functions. CBP includes U.S. Customs, U.S. Immigration, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the entire U.S. Border Patrol. Companies and individuals bringing items into the U.S. must often meet stringent duty and documentation requirements. Information about these requirements, help with compliance, and information about reporting violations are available from CBP.
