Dear Arizona Constituent,
Thank
you for taking the time to contact me electronically through my
website.
Some
constituents have asked why I don't answer their e-mail with an
e-mail. The simple answer is that there are just too many e-mails
for me to personally respond to each one; and I don't want my
staff to try to speak for me without my having an opportunity
to review what they say. With regular mail, my staff assists me
with research and prepares draft replies for my perusal, but I
take the time to read constituents' messages and decide how to
respond. I may edit a draft prepared by my staff or rewrite it
entirely. Due to time constraints, I can't possibly be at a computer
terminal to answer e-mail in the same careful way, and still be
able to cast votes, participate in debate, attend committee meetings,
and fulfill my other obligations as your Senator. Preparing letters
for delivery by regular mail offers the best opportunity for me
to give constituents' messages the thoughtful consideration they
deserve.
With
the 5,000 or so e-mails I receive every week, it may sometimes
take longer for me to respond than I would prefer. But because
your views are important, I want to devote as much attention to
your comments as I can.
Thank
you again for your message. I will be in touch with you again
soon.
Sincerely,
JON
KYL
United States Senator
