Interning with Senator Collins
An internship in the office of Senator Susan M. Collins provides successful candidates with the experience of working in the United States Congress and an overview of how a Senate office and staff work for the Senator and for the constituents.
Interns are assigned to work with the Senate office staff who are responsible for the legislative, administrative, and communications operations of the office.
Applying
To be considered for an internship with the Washington, D.C. office or one of our Maine State Offices, the candidate must forward a cover letter, resume and writing sample by email to Debra Schlagenhauf, Internship Coordinator at debra_schlagenhauf@collins.senate.gov and list the dates that he/she will be available to work. Internships are available on a fall/winter, spring, and summer basis. The deadlines for applications to these three sessions are as follows:
Fall/Winter - July 21st
Spring - November 30th
Summer - March 20th

List two offices (in order of preference) that you wish to work at (Augusta, Bangor, Biddeford, Caribou, Lewiston, Portland, or Washington, D.C.)
