MOORE GROUP RECEIVES FEDERAL FUNDS COBLE SAYS
Washington,
Sep 11 -
Thanks to the efforts of U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC), a Moore County health care organization will receive almost $100,000 to bring its records into the digital age. Congressman Coble announced today that St. Joseph of the Pines Health System in Southern Pines will receive funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to modernize its record-keeping system.
Rep. Coble said that HHS has awarded $94,352 to St. Joseph of the Pines to convert its paper medical records system to an electronic database. Specifically, the project will receive funds under the Health Resources and Services Administration’s congressionally-mandated Telehealth Grants program.
Congressman Coble said that these funds were earmarked for the project in the Fiscal Year 2008 omnibus appropriations bill signed into law by President Bush last December. “St. Joseph of the Pines is an outstanding health care organization,” Rep. Coble noted. “I was pleased to work with officials there to secure the funding needed to digitize its paper records.”
Ken Cormier, President/CEO, St. Joseph of the Pines stated, “We are so grateful to Congressman Coble and his staff for their interest and diligence in recognizing the benefits of this enhancement and supporting it through the appropriations process. In the end, it presents a win-win situation for the consumer and our organization by creating an effective and efficient flow of information.”
