Bristol Street Widening Project

Bristol Street is a major regional arterial street that runs through the center of Santa Ana, from the 22 freeway to South Coast Plaza. Not only is it a convenient route for local travel, it is a vital transportation link between the 5, 22, 57, and 405 freeways. The largest infrastructure improvement the City of Santa Ana has ever undertaken, the $225 million Bristol Widening Project will widen Bristol from 2 to 3 lanes in each direction. Other significant improvements included in the project are: landscaped medians and parkways, upgraded street lighting, sound walls, improved intersections, bus turn outs, and underground utilities. The segment by the 1st Street intersection is currently under construction and anticipated to be completed by April 2009.

In addition, the City of Santa Ana continues its $100 million residential street improvement program.

Carrousel featuring Endangered Animals Opens at Santa Ana Zoo

Here’s another reason to take a trip to our hometown zoo – a brand new carrousel featuring 33 awesome animals to ride.  The kids will love the Giraffe, Giant Panda, Hummingbird and custom-made Anteater.  Each of the featured animals on the carrousel is considered endangered and after riding every child will receive a trading card that highlights one of the animals that explains the conditions that led to the animal’s endangered species designation.  The new carrousel is located next to the Zoofari Express train and adds another excellent reason to take your children to the Santa Ana Zoo – Real Wild – Real Close.  We’ll see you there.
