On Saturday, December 6 at 6:30 pm, Santa, Mrs. Claus and a whole company of characters from the North Pole will roll in to Irvine on board a very special 450-ton train, decorated in garland with more than 50,000 twinkling lights. Entertainment and fun for the whole family!

The Irvine Animal Care Center (IACC) is hosting "Home for the Holidays," an extra special adoption event presented by Ralph’s Grocery on Sunday, December 7 from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. at the IACC. Recognized nationwide as one of the most progressive municipal shelters in the country, the Center is home to approximately 300 animals awaiting a loving family and home for the Holiday.

The City of Irvine invites the community to ring in the season with the joyful sounds of concert handbells and a concert of seasonal music by a variety of local choral groups. The seventh annual Joyful Jingles family holiday concert will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Irvine Valley College Performing Arts Center.

The City of Irvine is trying to help families start the new year off in a healthy way by collecting 2,009 food items for local food pantry programs. Now through December 31, residents can drop off canned food items at any city facility between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
