COBLE NOMINATES NINE TO SERVICE ACADEMIES

Washington, Mar 29, 2007 -  Nine students who were nominated to the nation's military academies by U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) have recently received appointments, the 6th District representative announced today. Congressman Coble said that the students come from Alamance, Guilford, Randolph, and Rowan counties.

Five of the students have been offered appointments to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Benjamin N. Marshall, son of Becky and Joel Marshall of Burlington, has been offered an appointment to play football. Benjamin is a student at Walter Williams High School. David V. Phetmixay, son of Vilavanh and Peter Phetmixay of Ramseur, has also been offered an appointment and attends Southwestern Randolph High School. Additionally, Julie K. Alexander, a senior at East Rowan High School and daughter of Deborah and Larry Alexander of Salisbury; Ian A. Trott, son of Boon and Alton Trott of Gibsonville and student at Western Alamance High School; and David E. Eng, son of Donna and Edward Eng of Elon who is a student at Elon University have also received appointments to the Air Force Academy.

Receiving appointments to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, are Michael P. Eddy of Asheboro and Tyler W. Davenport of Summerfield. Michael is the son of Jane and Dr. Ralph Eddy and attends Asheboro High School. Tyler, a senior at Northwest Guilford High School, is the son of Robin and Tony Davenport.

L. Clint Moore of Greensboro has received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York, to play baseball. Clint is a senior at Grimsley High School and is the son of Sharon and Kevan Moore. Garrett A. Anderson, a senior at Gray Stone Day School, has also received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy. Garrett is the son of Susan and Toby Anderson of Salisbury.

“I am delighted that these outstanding young men and women from the Sixth District have been approved for admittance to our nation’s military academies,” Rep. Coble stated. “All of these students are to be commended for their hard work and dedication, and I extend hearty congratulations on their accomplishments.”
