3:02 P.M. -
The House adjourned pursuant to H. Con. Res. 440. The next meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 2009.

On motion to adjourn Agreed to by voice vote.

Mr. Lampson moved that the House do now adjourn.

3:01 P.M. -
The House received a communication from Honorable John A. Boehner. Pursuant to Section 125(c)(1) of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (P.L. 110-343), Mr. Boehner appointed the Honorable Jeb Hensarling of Texas to the Congressional Oversight Panel.

The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of November 20.

10:05 A.M. -
The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is subject to the call of the Chair.

10:04 A.M. -
The House received a communication from the Honorable Ray LaHood. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Mr. LaHood notified the House that his office had been served with a criminal trial subpoena for documents issued by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois which relate to a constituent matter and further, that two district offices have casework files that are relevant to the investigation and charges filed. After consultation with the Office of General Counsel, Mr. LaHood determined that compliance with the subpoena was consistent with the privileges and rights of the House.

United States-China Economic and Security Review Commission - Pursuant to section 1238(b)(3) of the Floyd D. Spence National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2001 (22 U.S.C. 7002), amended by division P of the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution of 2003, the Speaker appointed Mr. Michael Wessel, Falls Church, Virginia .

10:03 A.M. -
The House received a message from the Senate. The Senate passed H.R. 2040 and agreed to the House amendments to S. 1193.

10:02 A.M. -
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Latta to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.

10:01 A.M. -
Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Daniel Coughlin.

The Speaker designated the Honorable Michael R. McNulty to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

10:00 A.M. -
The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
