Transportation and Roads

One of the key components of economic investment, development, and growth is adequate infrastructure, including highways. Western North Carolina has historically been underrepresented by state and federal projects. Without needed upgrades, it will be more difficult for businesses to expand and for communities to recruit new industries.

North Carolina is a donor state – meaning we send more money to Washington, D.C through federal fuel taxes than we receive back in federal funding. Congressman McHenry is fighting to increase the minimum guarantee from the federal government to North Carolina – thereby increasing the potential funding for road projects in the 10th District. Congressman McHenry was also able to secure funding in the Highway Reauthorization bill for important projects in the 10th District.
