Nancy Pelosi to a "green" event at the William Stanley Elementary
School in Waltham MA. The Stanley Elementary School was the first EPA
certified LEED public school building in Massachusetts, a designation
it received for being an energy efficient, environmentally friendly
building.

Rep. Markey pressed Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman on the legality of U.S. subsidies to Russian nuclear scientists that are helping to build important parts of a reactor in Iran.
Rep. Markey co-authored a provision in the 2005 Energy Bill, which is now law, that bars all forms of nuclear assistance to countries listed by the U.S. State Department as State Sponsors of Terrorism, such as Iran.
Rep. Markey spoke on the House Floor, urging his colleagues to pass the Energy Independence and Security Act. The bill includes the first fuel economy increase for cars and light trucks in decades, as well as incentives to increase production and use of renewable energy and sets strong new efficiency standards.
Overall, by 2030, the bill will save Americans twice the amount of oil we currently import from the Persian Gulf and cuts U.S. heat-trapping emissions by up to 35% of what scientists say is needed to avert the worst impacts of global warming.
