Washington, DC (October 6, 2006) – Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) today issued the following statement on the news that the United States Army will not be renewing its contract with Sikorsky and SSSI.

“I am extremely disappointed with today’s news, and extremely disappointed that Sikorsky and SSSI were not able to fulfill the terms of this contract with the United States Army.  It is a blow to the community of Beeville, and a blow to our country’s military readiness and preparedness.

“Despite this development, the Beeville Development Authority has done a tremendous job marketing and maintaining Chase Field.  Working together in a collaborative fashion, I am sure that we can attract interest to this state of the art facility and that it will be back up and running in the very near future.”
