Washington, DC (April 4, 2007) – Today, Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded the City of McAllen with a $33,100 Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) grant. The money will fund the purchase of video detective equipment and training and will help the region better meet their homeland security mission.
“This grant will help McAllen better detect, deter, and respond to any future breeches in security,” said Hinojosa. “It will enhance our first responders’ capabilities by giving them the tools and training they need so they can best do their job.”
CEDAP grants help meet the equipment needs of areas not currently eligible for funding through the Department’s Urban Areas Security Initiative grant program.
