Washington, DC – Congressman Gresham Barrett (SC, 3) made the following comments explaining immediately following his vote against trade legislation detrimental to manufacturer and textile workers in South Carolina. H.R. 6406, a bill which will modify certain rates of duty, make technical amendments to trade laws, and extend certain trade preference programs is scheduled to come to the House floor later tonight.

Washington, DC – This afternoon Congressman Gresham Barrett (SC, 3) voted in favor of H.R. 6111, the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006. H.R. 6111 provides extension and modification of certain tax relief provisions through 2007, extension of certain expiring energy provisions and other energy provisions, health savings account (HSA) provisions, other tax relief and miscellaneous provisions. The measure passed the House by a vote of 367 to 45.

Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint and U.S. Representative Gresham Barrett today announced Congress has approved $10.4 million defense projects based in South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District. The legislators secured the funding in the Fiscal Year 2007 Defense Appropriations Bill. President Bush is expected to sign the bill into law in the coming days.
