HONDA PRAISES ANNOUNCEMENT OF CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS ON TILLMAN ‘FRIENDLY FIRE’ DEATH

‘Only a comprehensive, unrelenting congressional investigation can do justice to Pat’s memory.

I will not rest until the unvarnished truth -- no matter where it leads -- is brought to light.’

Washington , DC –  Today, Representative Michael M. Honda (San Jose, CA) commented on the positive response by Rep. Henry A. Waxman (CA-30), Chairman, US House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, to Rep. Honda’s call for hearings into the “friendly fire” death of San Jose native, US Army Corporal Patrick Tillman:

“At the Tillman family’s request, I have long committed myself to lifting the veil of misinformation and potential deception shrouding the ‘friendly fire’ death of US Army Corporal Patrick Tillman. I am gratified that Chairman Waxman has responded favorably to my request for congressional hearings into this matter. After successive failed Department of Defense and Army inquiries, only a comprehensive, unrelenting congressional investigation can do justice to Pat’s memory, and restore service members’ confidence in their chain of command. I will not rest until the unvarnished truth -- no matter where it leads -- is brought to light.”
