Washington, Nov 12 -

There has been an overwhelming response to attend the swearing-in of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, on January 20, 2009.  Thanks to everyone who has requested tickets through our office.  Each member of the House of Representatives will receive less than 200 tickets.  We have already received well in excess of 1,000 requests for tickets to attend the ceremonies.

We are unable to accept any more requests for tickets.  You may still contact our office if you wish to receive written information about the ceremonies surrounding the inauguration, but there is no chance that we will be able to accommodate any more requests for tickets.

Congressional offices only receive tickets for the actual swearing-in ceremonies.  Tickets for the parade and inaugural galas come from other sources.  For more information about those events, please check out the official web site at http://inaugural.senate.gov In addition, the North Carolina State Society is sponsoring a ball the night before the official events.  For more information on that, please refer to its web site at www.northcarolinasociety.org
