PORTER MOURNS LOSS OF BOULDER CITY NAVY SEAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Third District Congressman Jon Porter today issued the following statement on the death of Navy SEAL Shane Patton, a Boulder City native, who died June 28 in Afghanistan when the helicopter he was riding in was shot down.

“Boulder City and the state of Nevada lost a true hero this past Tuesday when Shane Patton was killed in the mountains of Afghanistan.  As a member of the elite Navy SEALS, Mr. Patton was playing a major role in flushing out remnants of the murderous Taliban regime.  His courageous service has helped spread democracy and freedom throughout the world, and has helped keep Americans safe at home.  His sacrifice and love of country will not be forgotten.  My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Patton’s family and friends.”

All 16 U.S. servicemen onboard the MH-47 Chinook helicopter died in the crash.
