STATEMENT BY CONGRESSMAN JON PORTER ON NOVEMBER JOB GROWTH
December 02, 2005WASHINGTON, D.C. - Third District Congressman Jon Porter issued the following statement in response to the Labor Department reporting a net gain of 215,000 jobs on U.S. payrolls in the month of November, the largest increase since July:
“Today’s news serves as clear-cut evidence that our economy has regained its footing following two months of slowed growth as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Due in large part to the continuing positive effects of tax cuts and retreating energy prices, over 200,000 hard-working Americans are back on the job just in time for the holidays. On a related note, the stock market has been flirting with the 11,000 mark throughout the week, which is further evidence of America’s rising economic confidence.”
