WASHINGTON, D.C. - Third District Congressman Jon Porter today issued the following statement on the death of Corporal Stanley J. Lapinski, who died June 11 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle:

“I was deeply saddened to learn about the recent loss of Cpl. Stanley Lapinski, a Las Vegas resident.  Cpl. Lapinski was a true patriot, who died while defending our liberties overseas.  His sacrifice, and the sacrifice of all soldiers killed in the line of duty, will be remembered by freedom loving people around the world.  My thoughts and prayers are with Cpl. Lapinski’s family and loved ones.”

Lapinski was assigned to the Army’s 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.
