WASHINGTON, D.C. - Third District Congressman Jon Porter today issued the following statement on the death of Marine Corporal Jesse Jaime, who died June 15 near Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when the vehicle he was riding in while conducting combat operations hit an improvised explosive device:

“The Henderson community and the state of Nevada lost a hero when Corporal Jesse Jaime was killed while serving his country in Iraq.  Corporal Jaime’s death reminds us of the incredible sacrifice our men and women in uniform are making in order to protect the things we hold near and dear.  My thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Jaime’s family and loved ones.”

Jaime was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.
