The Office of the Chaplain United States House of Representatives

Reverend Dr. George S. Dillard, III

Peactree City Christian Church
Peachtree City, Georgia

Date of Prayer: 05/14/2003

Opening Prayer Given by the Guest Chaplain:

Almighty God, Creator of all who holds all things together by the power of Your Son, Jesus and have offered to us, liberty and freedom through Your mercy and grace. With great humility we bow, seeking wisdom, courage, compassion, justice and truth to guide this nation and its leadership today.
We acknowledge Your sovereignty and give thanks for the blessings we enjoy. For those serving in this House, we ask for strength and courage to see the truth and to live by it. Give us the wisdom to acknowledge the error of our ways. Open our ears that we might hear Your call to revival in our land. Send leaders who will seek Your truth. Those who accept that a lie is a lie, not spin, that it is immorality, not an alternative lifestyle, that it is murder, not a procedure, that it is stealing not creative accounting, that rebellion is rebellion no matter what name it is given. Father, watch over us, give wisdom above all. We honor, praise and give thanks to You through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
