NEW HAMPSHIRE – U.S. Senators Judd Gregg and John Sununu (R-NH) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $3.1 million to the State of New Hampshire to repair Federal highways damaged by the severe rains and flooding that hit the State on April 15, 2007.  Eligible repair work includes emergency repairs needed to restore essential traffic, minimize the extent of damage, or protect the remaining facilities as well as permanent repairs necessary to restore the highway to its pre-disaster condition. Damaged Federal-aid routes determined eligible for Emergency Relief funding were located in 9 of the 10 counties in the state (Coos, Grafton, Sullivan, Merrimack, Belknap, Strafford, Cheshire, Hillsborough and Rockingham).

The Senators stated, “The April floods of last year caused significant damage to many roads and highways throughout the Granite State.  These funds will give the State the necessary resources to fix these affected roads, many of which sustained major damage, and ensure the safety of motorists who travel in our state.”
