Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX) believes that his leadership with the following caucuses, task forces, community service boards, and other various groups have benefited the greater Dallas area. Furthermore, his participation has been recognized, as displayed in his list of awards and accomplishments. He is proud of his achievements and looks forward to continuing his diligent work as a Congressman from Dallas.


Congressional Caucuses, Task Forces, and Teams


Congressional Results Caucus, Chairman – Congressman Sessions was chosen by House Majority Dick Armey to start and chair The House Results Caucus, which is a coalition of bi-partisan reform-minded members of Congress. Congressman Sessions leads the caucus to draft legislation in order to meet its goals of realizing a smaller, smarter, common sense government.

Missile Defense Caucus, Co-Chair - Recognizes the ballistic missile threat from rogue states, strategic military rivals, and terrorists and supports providing for the defense of the American people, our warfighters and our national interests by supporting a layered and robust missile defense that utilizes land, air, sea, and space.

Malaysia Trade, Security, and Economic Cooperation Caucus, Co-Chair

House Republican Israel Caucus

Congressional Caucus on Korea - Creates a forum where Members of Congress, Congressional staffers, Korean officials and other interested parties can come together to learn more about Korea and discuss the political, economic and social issues emerging on the peninsula. The Caucus is educational in nature and is intended to be a resource for Members of Congress interested in Korea.

Congressional Thailand Caucus - Seeks to promote good relations between the United States and Thailand. Thailand currently has a pending Free Trade Agreement with the United States, as the caucus seeks to promote business and trade relationships between our two countries.

Congressional Taiwan Caucus - Seeks to preserve peace and democracy in Taiwan and continue the proud ally relationship that Taiwan and the United States have shared for decades.

Friends of Switzerland Caucus - Promotes trade and cultural activities between the United States and Switzerland and a greater mutual understanding and exchange of ideas and information about the two countries.

Immigration Reform Caucus - The Immigration Reform Caucus was established to review current immigration policy, propose new immigration policies and provide a forum in Congress for addressing the positive and negative consequences of our immigration policies. Here in Congress, the Caucus hopes to focus on three primary areas, illegal immigration, legal immigration and voter reform.

TEX-21 Caucus, Co-Chair - Brings together the Senators and Congressmen of the Texas delegation to promote the best transportation options of Texas during the current TEA-LU Highway bill reauthorization.

Congressional Missing and Exploited Children’s Caucus – Congressman Sessions works with several other Members of the U.S. House to boost awareness of missing and exploited children and give them a voice within Congress to effectively address the issue.

Congressional Diabetes Caucus – Congressman Sessions is a leader through his efforts on behalf of diabetes legislation. He, along with other Members of Congress, is dedicated to increasing the awareness of diabetes in Congress and promoting greater research into diabetes and diabetes related complications.

Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer’s – Due to his hard work with Alzheimer’s, Congressman Sessions was invited to join this task force made up of several of his colleagues in the United States House of Representatives. Together, they provide a critically needed forum where issues - and proposed solutions - concerning Alzheimer's can be discussed and investigated.

House Republican Cyber Security Team – Being part of the 16-member House team charged with raising awareness of the increasing security risks caused by illegal computer hackers, Congressman Sessions has become a leader on the issue. The House Republican Cyber-Security Team, will work with community leaders, families, local police, and technology experts to raise awareness of the increasing vulnerability to private records and e-commerce transactions flowing over the Internet.

House Reading Caucus – As a part of the team on the House Reading Caucus, Congressman Sessions promotes and encourages Members of Congress to champion literacy efforts in their home districts. He educates Members of Congress and raises the level of awareness nationally on the importance of literacy efforts and to also connect evidence-based research on how children learn to read with actual classroom instruction.

House Navy/Marine Corps Caucus - Congressman Sessions has become a leader in advocating the interests of the Navy and Marine Corps. As a member of this caucus, he joins with his colleagues in the House of Representatives to show support for the service of our nation's sailors and Marines.

Congressional Caucus to Fight and Control Methamphetamine – Congressman Sessions is an active member of the bipartisan congressional caucus to bring the growing nationwide problems and dangers associated with the abuse and production of methamphetamine to the attention of Members of Congress.

House Law Enforcement Caucus - While Congressman Sessions is a member of the House Law Enforcement Caucus, he has been able to lead the way in improving public safety in order to ensure a comprehensive approach to national security and homeland defense efforts in Texas and across the nation.

American Diabetes Association – Since his service on the ADA Board in 2001, Congressman Sessions has become a leader in the effort to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Juvenile Diabetes Foundation – Congressman Sessions has worked with the foundation since 2001 and continues to take initiative on legislation in order to help the organization work towards its goal of finding a cure for juvenile diabetes. He was instrumental in joining President Bush in supporting the doubling of their funding. Pete also participated in the 2001 JDRF Children's Congress and in the 2002 JDFR Promise to Remember Me Campaign, where he met with local children and volunteers in the 5th district of Texas to discuss juvenile diabetes

Lost Children’s Network – Congressman Sessions, as a result of serving on the Lost Children’s Network Board since 2001, has been a leader in taking the search for missing children into millions of homes. He has made special television appearances on the organization’s behalf and in hopes of helping the lost children and their families.

East Dallas YMCA Board of Directors – Congressman Sessions first joined the board in 1989 and is proud to take part in its growth and outreach to local youth. He plays a key role in the effort to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

Circle Ten Council, Boy Scouts of America – Congressman Sessions has been associated with the Boy Scouts of America since 1965. As an Eagle Scout, former Scout Master to 13 Scouts, district chairman for the White Rock district, and parent of a 12 year old second class scout with Troop 890 in Dallas, Congressman Sessions is well prepared to serve as an executive member of the council.

Dallas Northeast Chamber of Commerce – Since 1989, Congressman Sessions has been an active member of the Chamber, serving as its Chairman prior to his election. His duties as an Advisory Board member keep him in touch with this community-based chamber.

United States/Mexico Chamber of Commerce – Congressman Sessions was selected as an honorary member of the bilateral organization to promote trade, investment and joint ventures on both sides of the border. He has been a member since May 21, 1999 and continues to help businesses bridge differences in legal, regulatory and economic systems, as well as language and culture.

Disciples of Trinity – Since 1990, Congressman Sessions has served as an Advisory Committee member for this important organization, which supports terminally-ill individuals and family members as they approach the end of their life.

For the Love of the Lake – In Adopt – A – Shoreline, Congressman Sessions has been an active team leader since 1996 and responsible for cleaning up a section of the west side of White Rock Lake. It is perhaps one of his favorite opportunities to be outside with friends and scouters to ensure that two of his favorite messages, volunteerism and conservation, are demonstrated within the community.

March of Dimes First Gift Campaign – 2001 As an Advisory Committee Member, Congressman Sessions has worked very hard to raise funds for the North Texas March of Dimes Birth Defects Cancer Center at UT Southwestern.
